Now, (at the bottom), a list of local ranges and shooting related web sites! View the List!
Until I get ambitious, this is just a text file and in order of distance from downtown Overland Park. Not many Missouri shops; I'm in Kansas and hate the cross-border rules for pistol transfers. Suggestions of where to visit, or pointers to websites for these or other shops in the KC area are always welcome.
6201 Robinson St
Shawnee Mission, KS
(913) 432-0050
Shooting range and dealer; fair prices, very busy. Not much inclined
to perform special orders, $30 transfer fee. Primary stock is the higher end firearms, although
they have very good prices on consignment and used guns. Small annual range fee required to shoot on the indoor range.
Supposedly the largest indoor range in the nation; definitely big. There's
two levels of range. IPSC and IDPA events are held weekly downstairs.
2111 E Crossroads Ln # 103
Olathe, KS
(913) 780-3311
Small selection of old, classic or antique guns. Last time
I was in there, they had 3 (!) Colt 1903's on the shelf.
Haven't had much time to feel them out, see what they are
really like. Nice selection of car and home audio toys, tho.
700 S Rogers Rd
Olathe, KS
(913) 782-3131
Well, now -- this is simply the best equiped machine shop I
have seen since I quit working at Boeing. They can build,
fix or rebuild anything you want. Been around since 1946,
and recently started selling guns as well as fixing them.
Nice selection of archery equipiment as well, and
a "virtual indoor archery range".
716 S Rogers Rd # A
Olathe, KS
(913) 782-6900
Just across the parking lot from Simmons.
Wide selection of pistols, rifles and *huge* shotgun
selection. Some C&R, antiques. Helpful staff,
reasonable prices. Only open 8 to 5 M-S, tho.
2001 Clay St
Kansas City, MO
(816) 221-9117
*The* AR-15 source for the 4-state area. Parts, kits, complete
firearms, advice, upgrade and gunsmithing. Also great source
of reloading kit, other firearms. Every gun shop I've been to
in town has referred me up there for some part or another.
2625 W Pawnee St
Wichita, KS
(316) 945-3331
Wichita's finest indoor shooting range. Very active IDPA and IPSC
teams, also .22 league, big bore league and more. Nice selection
of pistols, rifles and accessories. Exceptionally friendly and
welcoming to all shooters.
Clean, well lit, awesome place. Affilliated with The Bullet Hole
in KC -- memeberships are transferrable and honored at both ranges.
2425 S Oliver St
Wichita, KS
(316) 683-3002
The *best* and *cheapest* firearms in the state. C&R's, military, hunting,
personal defense, oddballs, special orders and more. Supermarket
clean and well lit; very helpful and friendly. I've bought 90%
of my guns here.
Damn, they've got good prices. Have your local FFL or S&S guns order whatever you want.
North of Blue Springs -- public outdoor range run by the Missouri Dept. Of Conservation. Damn nice 100 yard range, and only $3 an hour.
http://mdc.mo.gov/areas/ranges/lakecity/
South East of town, open to new members, NRA and ODCMP matches along with training and 24x7 range access.
http://www.pioneergunclub.org/
Strong orginization supporting safe shooting, training and RKBA.
