Getting the hell out of the city, away from the noise and people and cars and smog and stress is often conducive to recovery. Being that we're in the Midwest, there are *miles* of clear, open road just beggin for a two wheeler to cut thru.
More tips, notes and info than you can shake a stick at. I've been archiving data from mailing lists, Usenet and more for years. I've finally put a quick and dirty document system in place and started archiving it.

First things first: When you're riding with a group, you need some basic rules to work with. Barry Bernard from the VFR list put this excellent set of guidelines together.
Riding with a safe group helps - the HSTA, while fast, are committed to safe riding. I am the new admin for their Kansas website.
2014: Grand Tour of Grand Tours
Team Strange has not 1, not 2 but 4 grand tours booked this year! GLMC should have theirs, and we'll be riding the Tour of Honor again this year, aiming for a trophy finish for at least one state. More to come as we get tie, links &c.
2013: Doin it Backwards, riding from Z to A
Ongoing: Ride Reports and Photos. As I ride, I (at the least) take a few pictures and note the milage and so on. I've got a ton more to do one of these days; just lazy - spending my time riding the motorcycle instead of riding the keyboard.
A post in a field. And some sand.
I love baseball. And I love riding a bike. What better excuse than the Baseball Grand Tour, where you check out as many major and minor league stadiums as you can, and get prizes for the most? I'm entering the Baseball Grand Tour -- check out my (ambitious?) plans
1060 odd miles to Chicago and back to get a Blues Fest t-shirt
North East KS check ride on the Concours
Checking out the BMW's
Any Given Sunday . . .?
Riding with the cruiser crowd
Started my riding on a 1982 Yamaha XJ 650 Maxim. Nice bike. Super smooth. Sold it for more than I paid for it.
Then, I bought a 1986 Kawasaki Concours and joined the Concours Owners Group (COG). Rode it for about 10,000 miles over the year and in February, 2002, I tried a top speed run with mis-adjusted valves, and, well, munched the motor. Sigh.
April 2002: Well, I tore my Concours up - wore the cams and rockers out. SO, I bought a 1997 Honda VFR. Sweet ride. Too bad I may have to sell her to pay for the house I just bought.
Liked the VFR, but not so much for long rides (multi-thousand miles, sub-100 hours). Also, the wife wanted to start riding with me, so I needed something bigger. Found an ST1100
Wadded the ST1100; bought a Ducati. Nice bike but not for kilomile days. Bought a 1994 BMW K1100LT. More to come one of these years.
Rode the Ducati, never did much to it beyond taking it in for tires. Dead solid and reliable. So I sold it. And the BMW. Cause the BMW never did run right. Something always broke. And bought . . .
Yes, two 250R's - mine and my wifes!
A few tech articles I've written
In the past 3 years, I've bought a lot of gear and stuff for the motorcycles and the rides. As I get around to it, I'll post some of the outstanding products here. Currently, the only outstanding product I've ran across is the 'Bun Saver' seat cushion.
Damn fine collection of gear reviews.
Great touring advice: tips on hand signals, realistic milage limits, and more.
Disassembly and review of oil filters for motorcycles, Honda in particular.
MuZ Bikes are quite interesting -- made in (former) East Germany, Uses a Yamaha 5-valve single cylinder 660cc engine. Odd design, waycool looks.
IN Kansas, the local dealer is:
Great Plains Honda / Yamaha 412 S. Main St. South Hutchinson, KS 67505 (316) 663-7166
