Product review: Bunsaver seat cushion 9/30/2001 Cost: $10 Source: Wal-Mart Description: Self Inflating air-cushion for hunters or sporting events. Includes an adjustable strap for attaching to your butt, or in this case, for attaching to the motorcycle. Review: Hmm. $10, eh? Ok. Damn, this thing is *ugly*. It looks like a flattened turd. Ah well, for $10, I can't loose, really. It claims to be self-inflating It has a strap? Cool. Seems to fit on the bike pretty well. The valve is easy enough to use while sitting on it to adjust the pressure. So, how's it work riding? In a word, great! Today, I ran 559 miles on the Concours, with the stock 16 year old seat, and tonight as I type this, I have no butt pain. Previously, I could get about 300 difficult miles, then it was a constant challenge to stay on the bike. And, I'd be sore for two days after- ward. With this $10 flattened turd, I feel quite confident I could easily do a 1000 mile day. Even a 1500 mile day. Todays limiting factor was the expiration of my 'kitchen pass', not any physical pain. I acutally feel better after my 12 hour, 559 mile ride than I do after sitting at my desk all day. Prognosis? Buy it. I like em so much, I'm going to try to become a distributor and get some better colors than 'flattened turd' ----- Update, June 2002: The current cost is around $10 to $20 each in the camo colors from various hunting goods stores and Wal Mart. Now, I've gotten the details on getting it made in black, and it is possible. The retail price would be roughly equivilent to the camo price. However, the only little problem I'm running into is the minimum quantity - 5,160 units must be ordered at one time. So, y'all interested in buying a *lot* of bun cushions? Seriously, tho, if any of you are interested in a partnership (I have no retail or mail order store, and don't have the resources to set up a one by one distribution outlet), get in touch with me. ----- Update, June 2002 - Online Sources On-line, they can be found at : $20 http://www.outdoor-catalog.com/hunting/bunsaver.htm $14 - best price I've seen http://www.armysurplusforless.com/productInfo.cfm?prodID=468 $11.31 - even better price, about 1/3rd of the way down. http://www.ultout.com/huntersspecialties-accessories.htm $9.99 - best price I've seen so far, thanks to Larry Rhodes! http://www.wingsupply.com/store/prodinfo.asp?number=HS05622&variation=&aitem=1&mitem=2&back=yes Also, you can order 6 or more (in camo) from www.hunterspec.com - you'll have to call em and set up a dealer account and all. Since I just don't have the resouces to buy up a container load, I did have an idea: a custom cover in velour or ?sheepskin?. Any interest in a synthetic velour cover in (name your color)? Suppose I could even take it out and get it embroiderd or something. Drop me a line if you're interested at will@mylanders.com Will
