Fieldsheer Highland Review I have the Highland pants combined with the Fieldsheer Moncur Jacket. I'd call them inexpensive and functional -- along the lines of equivalently priced Joe Rocket gear. They were marketed as "100% water proof", but I didn't believe it based on price -- and I wasn't wrong. Any decent rain for more than 10 minutes and you'll know it. They're not machine washable either, so I can't even use the NikWax wash-in stuff. The one-piece does mention some "water proof liner" and I can't comment on that. I've also used a Darien jacket which blows away my Fieldsheer -- in hot, cold, wet, and dry weather. I think the price difference is justified for what you get. I live in Seattle and ordered a Roadcrafter one-piece yesterday if that's any indication. I'll still keep the Fieldsheer gear, but wish I would've just plunked the money down on the the Roadcrafter originally. This is not to dissuade anyone against the Fieldsheer, just to put it in perspective. As usual, you seem to get what you pay for and the Fieldsheer has a great price tag. One other FYI item: My front zipper broke on my Fieldsheer pants and they were pretty good at getting it fixed and turned around to me in about 2 weeks. As for the folks at NewEnough.com, I can't say enough good things about them. I've purchased a few items from them and have always had top-notch customer service. I recommend them to everyone! If it's any consolation, I think the Fieldsheer gear looks a bit snazzier... Greg Sundberg December 31, 2002
