Russell Saddle Review Individual preferences and anatomy aside, Russell seats have earned their legendary reputation... I put one on my F650 last Winter and rode it to Northern Quebec last June (3500 miles in one week, two 14 hour days of riding a dirt and gravel road, and two 800 mile days on the slab). The most superlative statement I can make about the seat, the bike, the BMW Gore-Tex Boots is they do the job you bought them for without making their presence known. After those grueling days, I got off the bike and realized hours later that I was not sore.... at all! Hungry, yes; hot and sweaty, yes. but not sore. I did a little survey the other day about a back rest for my BMW Comfort Seat: I e-mailed Russell, Sargent, Rick Meyer, Rocky Meyer, and Corbin. Rick Meyer and Russell answered me within 24 hours. The others didn't; in fact they have yet to answer. I decided to try Rick since I own a Russell F650 seat and a good friend recently bought one for his R1100RT; both are excellent in comfort, fit, finish and craftsmanship. I have also heard very good reports about Rick and want to get to know his work personally. I attach a lot of importance to how a vendor responds to questions... even more to IF they respond. Rick Meyer and Russell passed with flying colors. Jim Thu, 12 Sep 2002
