Russell Day-Long Saddle review 1) You are not making a mistake. Just close your eyes and try not to think about the pricetag, and by a month after you get your seat, you'll have forgotten the financial pain, and will be enjoying the lack of posterior ouch-e-osis. 2) If you are a careful owner and your bike lives in the garage, get the leather. If the bike lives outdoors, or if you are haphazard about things like covers and such, get the vinyl. I don't really understand the vinyl-with-leather-inserts thing.... It's cheaper, but only a little.... 3) If possible, go there (NorCal) to be fitted. If not, probably no big deal, but it's worth doing in person if you have the time, etc.... Enjoy your Russell!
