Zeus Flip Front modular helmet I bought one of these helmets and have been very pleased with it so far. It's much more comfortable than my HJC full face, with much better ventilation (may not be a good thing come winter...). The fit & finish is on par with HJC, which I don't think is near the same level as a Shoei, Aria, etc. Also, it has a removable liner which is a nice feature. Well worth the $100 IMHO. Good Luck, Bobby Crumpley '2002 R1150R ==== also ==== I purchased a Zeus helmet off eBay this past month and feel obliged to share with the list a most positive experience. The seller is a grass roots motorcycle accessory company owned and operated by a family. They are riders (Moto Guzzi) and after several email correspondences I am convinced that they are as concerned to provide a service to fellow riders as they are to make a profit. Perhaps even more so. They sell the Zeus modular helmet for $88.95 with shipping for $9.50. I opted to spend an extra $24 for a chrome shield - looks way cool on the titanium helmet. This was an excellent deal on a very nice high quality helmet. I find the fit and size similar to an Aria Quantum. My head is an Aria Signet shape and my Aria will continue to be my long distance lid but for running around town and day rides the convince of having a lift up chin piece can't be beat. I'm going to buy another one for passenger use. The quality of the helmet is amazingly good. It has open/close vents in the chin and forehead and opens with one hand. It comes with a one year replacement warranty. Go to eBay and do a search for"Zeus Helmets" and you can check out the features and sizing information. The helmet is as good looking as it appears in the pictures. Don't hesitate to ask the seller questions. You will find them most gracious and straightforward. They also carry jackets (I will be getting my Joe Rocket from them), gloves, and other accessories. They say that they will try to beat competitors prices, just let them know what you're looking for. Here is the contact information. Dixie Cycles aloetran@bayou.com or guzzi@bayou.com Phone is (318)368-3172 Take a look on eBay but you don't have to go through an auction - just order direct from them. My interest in this is solely to inform fellow riders of a source of quality gear at excellent prices that is owned by hands on folks. I am receiving no compensation for recommending doing business with them. ==== also ==== Sounds like the Zeus model ZS 508. I got one a few months ago and wore it 2400 miles in two and a half days. No major sore spots. Kind of noisy but not an issue with earplugs; chinbar presses on your chin at 80mph but not an issue with a windshield; dorky with a cigarette hanging out but moot if you are 10 miles from home. Didn't chip when dropped again and again. Visor is still clear. I paid $100 at my local dealer's. Said she's sold a ton of them. A good everyday helmet :) Jim Parr La Farge, WI ==== also ==== Did a 70 mile ride with the regular shield.Love the one hand operation of the flip part.Helmet only weighs 3lbs 3oz compared to the Shubert 4lbs 4oz.Was comfortable. This is behind the fairing of the Concours not in open air.As far as noise goes it seems quiet,I definately notice the difference in noise when I crack open just the shield to just the first notch.By that I mean I can't hear the engine as well with the shield completely shut but can hear it more with it cracked open. So far I'm very happy with it.Yes you can ride with the flip open @ 70mph.Didn't bounce around or get pulled back which it might witout the fairing. Thanks,Ripper ==== also ==== I've got 2 of them, one with 20,000+ miles and the other with only about 1000. They are both comfortable, fairly quiet(no flip front helmet is all that quiet), convenient to use, are DOT approved (none of the flip fronts are Snell approved yet, no matter what you paid for it), and yes, inexpensive. I enjoy mine alot. Hope you will too. Dave ==== also ==== Yup, Zeus helmet arrived and went for a litlle 70 mi ride befroe work today. I can't do a comparo flip to flip helmet as I have not had another flip face to wear before. What I bought: An $89 helmet , Titanium color ... dark, metallic gray $24 for a smoke tinted extra shield $8 for a stainless steel quick chin strap detach What I like: One handed flip face release Good paint finish Shields are 'hard coated' (should last and not scratch like most $89 helmet shields would scratch up bad) Size large fits me snug like a size L Arai Q did when new, important to realize they will loosened up after use The shield stays up in the top ratchet position well and will hold their in the wind gusts. I do like to ride with 'shield up' alot as I also wear sunglasses or safety glasses as well. With my tall 'megashield' windshield I have pretty good protection. Chin vent that also vents to bottom of shield upper forehead vent with the bottom of rear helmet liner ehhaust vent What I didn't like: The shield does not positively seal when in the down position and at that point has no latch to hold it tight. Chin strap D ring too close to edge of helmet making it difficult for my sausage fingers to have enuf room to do the strap on/off. Thus the optional quick detach accesssory may be real handy once installed. My mouth is even with the bottom of the shield so I am breathing right on it. My other two helmets have the chin bar area even with mouth so fogging MAY be worse with this. Neutral: Helmet noise no better than Arai Q but may be noisier.. need more ride testing to determine Interior seem good. I recall it is removable/washable????? This is a value tho I will not compare it to a helmet exceeding $150 Remember, this is a first SHORT ride evaluation. ===== Dan P, Graham WA... NWCOG WA AAD
