Debuzzing the Connie with the Balancer Shaft

Or just some instructions ( I did not write these, so credit must go
elsewhere ) -
1. This one is really easy
2. Engine to be cool or cold, not hot
3. Remove right lower fairing and plastic air duct for better visibility
4. Look in lower forward section of engine block for a recessed large
standard screwdriver slot. It is partially hidden behind a hydraulic
line.
5. Loosen the 2 small keeper bolts that keep the screw from turning
6. Insert a large standard screwdriver BEFORE you start engine. [ a
second person is useful to start/stop engine] Turn screw 1/8 turn right,
then left, just to be sure it is not frozen.
7. While holding screwdriver in place, grip tightly, start engine
8. Rotate screw counterclockwise until loud screeching noise is heard,
then rotate clockwise until noise stops, add 1/16 turn clockwise. Stop
engine.
9. Tighten keeper bolts
10. Replace fairing

I found it helped to remove the belly pan. And be sure to loosen TWO
small keeper bolts!! I didn't do the one to the rear and I couldn't turn
the adjuster. Once the second one was loose and the arm over the
adjuster shaft was pulled out a few millimeters I was fine. I
lock-tited the front one when tightening it up.
I also used a White-Out pen to mark a before and after mark near the
slot. I adjusted again a few months later and found my bike is smoother
when its between the before and after mark. Now I have three marks to
keep track of!

Good luck!
