Easy basic sauce:
Quarter about 6 ripe well-flavoured tomatoes, a red bell pepper, 2
cloves garlic, and 2 medium onions. Pile into a roasting dish, pour on
some olive oil and roast until nicely done/charred to your liking.
Process/liquidise/whatever until you've got the texture you like, add
sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, fresh herbs to taste... I like
rosemary and thyme, or sage.
Use a baking stone if you want a crisp base.
